Hermitage on the Eastern Shore is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) offering five levels of living for persons 62 years of age and older. A part of Virginia United Methodist Homes, Inc., a non-profit corporation based in Richmond, Virginia, the Hermitage is committed to providing an independent lifestyle as well as security throughout the continuum of care.

Located on Virginia's Eastern Shore in the picturesque, waterfront town of Onancock, the Hermitage officially opened its doors in the spring of 1966 offering Independent Retirement and a 35-bed health center. In March of 1981, Assisted Living was added to bridge the gap between the two original levels of care. Today, services include independent living, residential living, regular assisted living, intensive assisted living and health care.

"Stop and feed the ducks at the pond."

You are invited to travel to the Shore and visit the Hermitage. Walk through downtown Onancock and visit the antique shops, restaurants and specialty shops. Stop and feed the ducks at the pond, stay for lunch or dinner at the Hermitage and enjoy a conversation on "the porch". Visit and experience for yourself the hospitality of the Shore and the family atmosphere of the Hermitage.
