In Assisted Living at the Hermitage on the Eastern Shore, our
goal is to help the resident maintain as much independence as
possible, while providing assistance when needed.
Residential Living offers the resident assistance by certified
nurse aides with one of the activities of daily living (bathing,
dressing, eating, transferring from surface to surface, toileting
and bowel and bladder care). In addition, residential residents
may receive memory assistance and medication assistance from
licensed practical nurses.
Regular Assisted Living offers assistance with up to three
activities of daily living, and medications by licensed practical
nurses and certified nursing assistants. Residents will be helped
with bathing, dressing, laundry and gentle reminders of time
and place. Nursing staff make doctors' appointments and administer
medications under doctor's orders. Intensive Assisted Living
offers more comprehensive assistance with four more activities
of daily living.

Assisted Living residents enjoy their own private studio with
a full bath. Level I residents have the option of 2-room apartments.
Cable TV is provided and telephone service is available. Each
apartment has an emergency call system, with a pull cord and
two-way intercom. Of course our staff regularly monitors the
resident's medical needs.
Speech, occupational and physical therapy are available on-site,
when it is requested for a resident by their physician. We also
provide transportation to local doctor's appointments.

All residents in assisted living receive three nutritionally
balanced meals per day in either the main dining room or the
Virginia Room. Housekeeping, maintenance, security and laundry
needs are provided to all residents. Of course our staff regularly
monitors the resident's medical needs.
As with every level of care at the Hermitage on the Eastern
Shore, the whole community is open for residents' use. Regular
activities, exercise classes, events, worship services, Bible
study, gift shop, beauty shop and outings for banking, lunch
and shopping are all part of the Assisted Living lifestyle.
